Hi, everyone. I wanted to be one of the first ones to announce that one of the long awaited Ipad Teacher App Updates was released this week.
I’m proud to say that VIPKID listened to us and gave us the landscape view of the classroom. I’m thrilled, because it was stuck in portrait mode way to long. I feel that I can use the Ipad App more often. The only con I still have with the cell phone and Ipad apps is that we still cannot fill out UAs . That is a very much a disservice and a feature that I’m still waiting for. I find it is very inconvenient when you have like 3 assessments in a row, such as I had last weekend. You need to log into the teacher portal online or on the Teacher PC App.
Also, I want to make announcement, if you have not already learned, as of April 1, 2019, the Teacher Portal website classrooms will not work in any browser, ONLY Google Chrome 58 and above. Make sure if you don’t use the Teacher PC App to either start using that or using Chrome. However, I’ve been using the Teacher PC App for almost a year and I’ve never had many problems.
Lastly, if you remember my video about the new Teacher PC App classroom, I mentioned the lack of removing stars and also the new Thumbs up feature. This week VIPKID has changed the stars. We can remove and increase them easily. As well, the Thumbs Up button moved over to the chat bar. So look around carefully at the changes that happen. VIPKID seems to lack making announces prior to releasing the new features.
Well.. It’s getting rather late where I am and I’m sitting through a no show. One of those Excess Booking-info pending. I don’t understand those bookings, but almost 99.99% of the time it is cancelled, but I have to sit here any way and imagine I’m teaching. These are the times I usually work on this blog or make another YouTube video to share.

Hi, everyone…. I’m sitting here burning some time, because I have a student no show. I’ve been lucky enough to have taught about 130 classes this month. I’ve been super happy as Chinese New Year begins next week (February 5, 2019) for the next 15 days. YES, 15 DAYS! Hopefully I don’t see too much of a shift in my bookings, but I have seen a few cancellations already as some students are headed to their grandparents for the holiday.
My YouTube video will be up short and I will inform you when it has been edited and render. YouTube creator Studio makes it so easy. 🙂
This time the video will be a preview of the Teacher Portal and I will update with more cool VIPKID videos soon. Just got to think of some more ideas. I hope that you will begin to follow and enjoy the videos you see.
I’ve decided to work harder on this blog and I hope that I can continue to create more cool content for you. 🙂 Also, I’m going to be probably renaming this blog as we go, as I’ve also joined up with a new company called Naativ (teaches English to South Koreans and Japanese children), and I look forward to documenting my journey with them as well. My next goal is to join SAYABC, a sister of VIPKID. 🙂 SAYABC is a 1 to many class room. I feel that might be an interesting program to try. 🙂

Hi, everyone here’s a quick update, as I’m waiting on a student tonight. If they are a no show I still have to wait. We are doing the Voice of VIPKID classes. These are extra curricular courses that help students have more fun while learning words and actions.
However, today I want to talk to you about the Apps that VIPKID has to offer. They have three kinds of apps. We have the Teacher PC, iPad App, and iPhone (or iPod Touch) app. Each app does something slightly different. The main device I recommend using is the computer or a Yoga computer that is portable. You will want to use the Teacher PC app instead of the browser, due to stablity issues that the browser may have. I have had only 1 Teacher IT problem in the 660+ days I’ve been with VIPKID, and that was something to do with my headphones and the browser at the time.

It is very useful and it works streamline with little to no issues and they are always updating it with cool AR stickers or configuring the classroom to make it easy to manage. I particularly like the new way that came out yesterday. Plus we always get opportunities for gift boxes or tokens. I will explain tokens in another post.
VIPKID just implemented the Start Class Button feature to the Teacher PC app and iPad apps. I’m not to keen on it, but I have adjusted. I just recommend using the free version of Many Cam to create our own camera cover so you have it up at the beginning of the start time, which is about 5 minutes before class. 🙂 I may explain how to make a camera cover in an another post. However, I definitely want you to use the Teacher PC app and that will make your life very easy.
The iPad app is nice, but isn’t as stream line as it could be. I’ve had to use it instances when my laptop shut down due to updates or I’ve had other issues pretainig to my computer, like sound. Although the iPad app is great, it lacks one feature. LANDSCAPE mode. The classroom is permanently in portrait mode and that is just not effective if you ask me. The students are able to do class in landscape but not the teachers. It is so weird, but it is true. I also don’t like the iPad app for another reason. You cannot fill Unit Assessments (UAs) out, only normal class feedback. NOT COOL if you are on the go. You’ll have to use Safari to get to the browser portal and fill it in. Hopefully that works, because the classrooms won’t due to a special plug in Safari does not have.
The iPhone (or iPod Touch) app is your organizing friend. It keeps you in the know. You can check your schedule, get alerts of bookings, updates, etc. You can even fill in normal feedback for classes on the go. However, as stated before, you CANNOT fill in UAs. This is such a drag because you never know when you will get a UA and you don’t want to be in this predicament.
So after all said and done, which Apps do I use the most. Well… The Teacher PC app and the iPhone app. Those are my two besties in the VIPKID world. I totally recommend getting and downloading these whether you have been with VIPKID from day one or just starting.
Well… Looks like a no show since I just typed all of this in one sitting but I have 15 minutes before can call class so… Yeah. 🙂 I just got paid to type this up. lol

Hi, I’m so sorry folks. I should be typing more on here to keep you up on all that is VIPKID. However, I have failed and I am sorry, but I’m planning to change this and try to update at least once a week. I just got to motivate myself.
Today marks 391 days since I started with VIPKID. I feel much more comfortable with this program and I’m thinking about starting with another company soon that is also owned by the same parent company as VIPKID. I’ll keep you updated on that. I just can’t believe I’ve been doing this for that long. I also have to say I think my mind feels differently about classes than it did when I started too. I use to feel like I had to prepare so much to do a class. However, now I just review the slides and notes and if there is something grammatically I don’t understand I try to look up before class or if I forget I look it up as I do classes. I always prepare for the grammar and for math, because both can be challenging due to the material.
On Monday, this week, VIPKID announced the release of Level 7, which sounds really exciting. However, at this point in time, I’m not qualified for this level. I need to get a state teaching certificate and have some classroom experience. 😦 I’m sort of sad about this because I don’t have these things, but I’m going to try to work on getting my TESOL this year. I also have several other things to announce that VIPKID has been releasing, but I’ll save those for another blog posting. 🙂
On a personal update, I’ve been busy crafting away. If you haven’t seen my crafting blog check it out (#craftygabi #craftyintheberkshires) and my crafting business instagram. I’ve been doing several commission projects. 🙂 To keep up with my VIPKID and personal activities, please check out my personal instagram page and please follow both accounts.
